MAKA spaces
These open sessions are a great way to unwind after the school day. We promote playful making to help children and young people engage with the world around them and shape creative habits of mind.
MAKA sessions include tinkering, making, exploring, building, de/constructing and generally playing with non-intrusive supervision. Sessions focus on:
confidence using tools (hammering, sawing, sanding, drilling and more)
preparation and planning
problem-solving
communicating ideas
understanding the characteristics of materials
teamwork
Book now as places are limited. Sessions are run at our MAKA studio in West Leederville.

Creativity, Culture and Education has identified 5 ‘habits of mind’ as indicators of creativity:
1. Inquisitive: wondering and questioning; exploring and investigating; challenging assumptions.
2. Persistent: tolerating uncertainty; sticking with difficulty; daring to be different.
3. Imaginative: playing with possibilities; making connections; using intuition.
4. Disciplined: crafting and improving; developing techniques; reflecting critically.
5. Collaborative: cooperating appropriately; giving and receiving feedback; sharing the creative ‘product’.
